Lauren Graham is a woman that can take a character and make you fall in love with her. She did it with Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, she did it with Sarah Braverman on Parenthood, she did it with Franny Banks in her novel Someday, Somday Maybe, and she has done it again with herself in Talking as Fast as I Can.
This book is a necessary observation on the horrid culture surrounding rape and sexual assault. If those things make you uneasy or are too vulgar, GET OVER IT!
This book was a little better than the last in some ways, but not as good in others. I would highly recommend reading it for pleasure, but it loses some of its charm about halfway through.
I know you all think I probably love every book. That is not true. I am sure once I start getting away from my old “Need to Read” list I will start being a lot more critical. This one was just THAT good.
Please give this a try, especially if you are from small town America.
If you haven’t bought this series already, you are way behind on the times. It is perfection at it’s best.
It Looks Like This by Rafi Mittlefehldt
This one is great because you can present this to your teens, kids, parents, siblings, partners, etc. It might just get them to read something.
I want to love it because I love re-tellings, but this one just didn’t entrance me as so many others have.
